Similar matte painted polychrome forms commonly decorated with red and black paint and light pastes and sherd temper known to have been produced by the Pueblos of Zuni, Acoma, and Laguna. Pottery assigned to types included here in the Zuni Historic Matte Painted Ware group are group are assigned to examples exhibiting vessel shapes and forms indicative of production in historic village of Zuni founded in 1705. Zuni described here, in order of their time of appearance, include Matasaki Polychrome, Ashiwi Polychrome, Kiapkwa Polychrome, and Zuni Polychrome.
