Ancestral Pueblo: Greater Mogollon | Jornada Mogollon | Northern Jornada (Sierra Blanca) | Northern Jornada Brown Ware |
First posted by C. Dean Wilson 2014
The great majority of pottery from most sites in the Northern Jornada reflects plain ware tempered with local available igneous rocks and exhibiting polished surfaces that are classified as Jornada Brown. Variation in resource use has been noted and is used to define types such as South Pecos Brown. Types produced during the latter periods reflect both a shift in tempering material and surface manipulations resulting and are reflected by types assigned to Corona Corrugated, Corona Plain, and Sierra Blanca Variety of Playas Incised.
