Ancestral Pueblo: Greater Mogollon | Mogollon Highlands | Mogollon-Mimbres | Mogollon Red Ware |
First posted by C. Dean Wilson 2012
Mogollon red wares exhibit pastes and tempers similar to those described for brown ware types but also exhibit on surface covered with a distinct red slip. Basic forms associated with slipped red types are similar to those in brown wares, and the two ware groups appear to be functionally similar. Mogollon red wares seldom exhibit exterior surface textures although examples with smudged interiors may be relatively common in later assemblages.
