Ancestral Pueblo: Southern Colorado Plateau (Anasazi) | Eastern (Mountain) Anasazi | Upper San Juan | Upper San Juan Gray Ware |
First posted by C. Dean Wilson 2013
The sequence of change noted for Upper San Juan Gray Ware types is similar to that noted for Northern San Juan Gray Ware types, which are mainly distinguished by slight differences in temper reflecting the lighter (leucocratic) igneous sources in the uppermost drainages of the San Juan. The ability to distinguish pottery produced in different areas of the Upper San Juan may vary for different localities and time periods.
